Yolanda Ruiz became a PhD on May 25th by successfully her thesis at the School of Engineering in Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The thesis is entitled "Scale-up opportunities of microbial electrolysis cells for hydrogen production from wastewater" deals on the limitations and key aspects when scaling up a MEC. Juan Antonio Baeza and Albert Guisasola were the thesis supervisors. Dr. August Bonmatí (GIRO-IRTA), Stefano Freguia (AWMC, University of Queensland) and Antonio Morán (Universidad de León) were the thesis examiners. She got the maximum award cum laude.

Unfortunately for GENOCOV and luckily for her, Yolanda has just found a new job and she begins a new life as Dr. Yolanda Ruiz in wastewater treatment engineering.
