SHORT SUMMARY OF SCIENTIFIC LIFE
Carla Ramos Medina (Arequipa, Perú, 1992) is a industrial engineering graduate from Catholic University of St. Paul (2014). Currently, she is expanding her education with an MSc in Biological and Environmental Engineering in UAB. She is completing her Master Thesis with the GENOCOV research group. Her Master Thesis is focused on the optimization of production of struvite from the anaerobic effluent of an EBPR system. This research includes the study of precipitation of phosphorus in different operating conditions and of designing a precipitation reactor to be able to implement it at scale pilot plant.
Carla’s current research interests are:
- Recovery of nutrients as struvite.
- Enhanced biological phosphorus removal
- Nutrients removal in urban wastewater treatment plants
