SHORT SUMMARY OF SCIENTIFIC LIFE
Chemical Engineer specialized in Environmental and Sanitary Engineering. She collaborated with GENOCOV from 2008 until 2013. During 2008-2009 she delivered the MSci Project entitled “Use of a flow injection analyser with gas diffusion step for on-line monitoring of hydrogen sulfide and sulfide in a biogas desulfurization biotrickling filter”. From 2009 to 2013 she was engaged in a Doctoral fellowship, researching on the performance of an aerobic biotrickling filter operated during a total period of 990 days, for the desulfurization of synthetic biogas containing 2,000 ppmv of H2S (≈50 g S-H2S·m-3·h-1), using a metallic random packing material (stainless steel Pall rings).
After the optimization of the operation at neutral pH, the simultaneous removal of methylmercaptan (CH3SH) and H2S was studied. Afterwards, the uninterrupted transition from 440 days at neutral pH (6.0 – 6.5) to 550 days at acidic pH (2.50 – 2.75) was performed. In parallel, sensing tools for the on-line monitoring of H2S, total dissolved sulfide (TDS = H2S(aq) + HS- + S2-) and sulfate (SO42-) were developed applying ion-selective electrodes (ISEs). Her Doctoral research was concluded with the Doctoral Thesis entitled “Aerobic biotrickling filtration for biogas desulfurization”; both Master and Doctoral research projects were developed under the supervision of Dr. David Gabriel and Dr. Mireia Baeza. Before joining GENOCOV Group, she performed as Senior Tender Engineer in well-known international water-related business companies acting in the Brazilian and Latin American municipal and industrial market.
