The seventh meeting of the SMART-Plant project (“Scale-up of low-carbon footprint material recovery techniques in existing wastewater treatment plants”, was held in Athens (Greece) on days 3 – 5 July 2019, with the participation of representatives from each of the 26 partners of the consortium.

On day 3, there was the follow-up of WP2, WP3, WP4 and WP5 progress. Juan Baeza presented the session of WP2, summarizing the planned activities up to the end of the project. Each task leader presented the task highlights and the exploitable/exploited results and plans for action. During the afternoon session, Juan Baeza presented for the WP4 the progress regarding the Decision Support System (DSS), including the models incorporated and the different decision criteria that will be evaluated. The activities of the first day also included the interaction with A. Charemis, Innovation Consultant from the Enterprise Europe Network, showing in a presentation the networking and financing opportunities currently available for innovation.

The second day of the meeting included a stakeholder workshop with presentation of the SMART-Plant project by Francesco Fatone, an overview of wastewater management in Greece by Andreas Andreadakis, an overview of the municipal water supply and sewerage companies in Greece by D. Karastavrou and finally a presentation of the Psyttalia WWTP by N. Tzouvaras from EYDAP. After these presentations, a visit took place to the SMART-Plant site and Psyttalia WWTP.

The third day of the meeting, there was a focus on the IWA Resource Recovery Conference in Venice in September, co-organized by SMART-Plant, and where the SMART-Plant products and SMARTechs will be exhibited. In addition, it was organized a workshop on exploitation of the SMART products, where many ideas came up to improve the results of exploitation for the SMART-Plant project. The dissemination results of the project were also shown in the WP6 progress, and Simos Malamis showed that most of KPI for dissemination activities expected at the end of the project were already met. The general assembly meeting finished with the Executive Board meeting.
