New publication - Evaluation of key parameters on simultaneous sulfate reduction and sulfide oxidation in an autotrophic biocathode


A new paper entitled "Evaluation of key parameters on simultaneous sulfate reduction and sulfide oxidation in an autotrophic biocathode" by E. Blázquez, D. Gabriel, J.A. Baeza and A. Guisasola has been published in Water Research (2017), 123, 301-310.

After publishing in 2016 a proof of concept for the simultaneous sulfate reduction and sulfide oxidation for sulfur recovery in a Bioelectrochemical System, the paper now published in Water Research presents the results obtained in assessing a set of key operational parameters that influence the simultaneous sulfate reduction and sulfide oxidation in an autotrophic biocathode such as the ion-exchange membrane, cathodic pH and cathode potential using a two-chamber BES during long-term operation.
