Mira Sulonen got her PhD in 2017 from Tampere University of Technology in Finland majoring in Biotechnology. During her doctoral studies, Mira was working with bioelectrochemical systems, the main focus being in electricity production from reduced inorganic sulfur compounds.
At GENOCOV, Mira is developing bioelectrochemical systems for mining water treatment. She is focusing on sulfate removal, neutralization and metal removal on the biocathode of bioelectrochemical systems. Besides gaining research experience and sharing knowledge, during her stay in Barcelona Mira is looking forward to explore the local culture and cuisine!
