The final conference of the TreatRec project was held in Girona on 13 and 14 of June 2018. The conference was focused on “Advanced technologies for improved removal of organic micropollutants”, “Challenge of organic micropollutants in wastewater. Monitoring”, “Recovery of resources (water, nutrients and energy)”, and “Challenge of societal, economic and technological changes affecting wastewater treatment and management”.
Juan Antonio Baeza was invited to present the SMART-Plant project: Scale-up of low-carbon footprint MAterial Recovery Techniques for upgrading existing wastewater treatment Plant. The current results of the project were presented, including: i) information of the evolution of all the SMART-Techs implemented at demo size, ii) the SMART-Products that are being produced as lignocellulosic PHA biocomposites, cellulose enriched mortar and concrete, and biocomposites from raw PHA-rich biomass, and iii) the description of the decision support system that is being developed by the consortium.
