On the 20th and 21st of July 2017, the research group GENOCOV assisted to the 7th International Conference on Biotechniques for Air Pollution Control and Bioenergy in A Coruña, Spain
David Gabriel, Mabel Mora, Enric Blázquez, Eva Fernández and David Cuento, members of GENOCOV group, participated in the 7th International Conference on Biotechniques for Air Pollution Control and Bioenergy in A Coruña, Spain.
Biotechniques-2017 covered a wide range of topics related to the application of environmental biotechnology for air pollution control, gas fermentation in bioreactors and clean (bio)fuels production and upgrading, among others. The conference opened new doors to academic and industrial partners in order to facilitate research cooperation between academia and industry, potentially allowing commercialization of innovative bioprocesses. In this way, the GENOCOV group contributed with three oral presentations and one poster.
D. Cueto: Influence of air flowrate on the recovery of elemental sulfur in the treatment of sulfide-laden wastewaters containing ammonium.
E. Fernández: Long-term UASB operation as first stage of an elemental sulfur recovery process from S-rich effluents.
E. Blázquez: Effect of pH on the treatment of high-strength sulfate wastewaters in bioelectrochemical systems for elemental sulfur recovery.
D. Gabriel: On-line monitoring, control and mitigation of greenhouse gases emissions in WWTPs.
Moreover, Xavier Guimerà from the TRAGASOL Research Group (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya), in collaboration with Mabel Mora, Luís Rafael López and David Gabriel (GENOCOV), did an oral presentation of the work entitled “Application of DO microsensors in heterogeneous respirometry to characterize H2S oxidizing biofilms grown on desulfurizing trickling beds”.
