On August 28-30, the National University of Ireland, Galway, held the 8th edition of the Biotechniques conference, a cycle of conferences created by Christian Kennes (Universidade da Coruña, Spain) and chaired on this edition by professor Piet Lens. Biotechniques-2019 covers a wide range of topics related to the application of environmental biotechnology for air pollution control, greenhouse gases mitigation, gas fermentation in bioreactors and clean (bio)fuels production and upgrading. GENOCOV members Daniel González, David Cueto, Xudong Zhou and David Gabriel attended the conference and delivered 4 oral presentations related to the characterization of the gaseous emissions during sewage sludge biodrying as well as to the recent advances in the sulfur recovery from SO2 emissions. TRAGASOL members Xavier Guimera and Xavier Gamisans collaborating in the SONOVA project also presented their latest results in CFD modelling and in the use of inkjet-printed microsensors for oxygen monitoring.
We gladly had the opportunity to share time, experiences and past memories with professor Marc Deshusses (Duke University) and with former PhD student at GENOCOV Luis Rafael López now in Marc Deshusses lab. Nice to see you again guys!
