Effect of G-L flow pattern and microbial diversity analysis of an anoxic biotrickling filter for biogas desulfurization

This article assesses the effect of the G-L flow pattern in reactor performance and in the microbial diversity of the bioreactor, both issues not previously addressed in such reactors. Special emphasis is given to co-current, counter-current and single-pass flows. Also, this work will help to turn the black-box approach of such bioreactors into a clearer understanding of the role of microbial populations in the reactors performance.

his work has been performed in collaboration between GENOCOV researchers (UAB) and the group of D. Cantero at the University of Cadiz (Spain).
