Clara Reino is performing a one-month research stay in the Group of Microbial Ecology of the Instituto de Investigaciones Biológicas Clemente Estable (IICBE) of Montevideo, UruguayThis stay is developed in the frame of the Short Research Stays of CYTED TRITON Network, where GENOCOV participate. Clara will work under the supervision of Dr Claudia Etchebehere.
During this research stay, Clara will gain knowledge about some biomolecular techniques commonly used to study the microbial ecology in biomass samples from biological treatments of liquid effluents. Clara will learn how to perform techniques such as PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction); quantitative PCR and TRFLP (Terminal Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism). Furthermore, this stay will help to strengthen research collaboration between our group GENOCOV in Barcelona and the Microbial Ecology group in IICBE in Montevideo.
