SHORT SUMMARY OF SCIENTIFIC LIFE
Lorena Ferrer Rodriguez (Granada,1980) coursed a formative cycle degree in chemical analysis (I.E.S Terrassa 2002). During the course, she was learning analytical techniques related with products quality controls in Pymag (1999). Lorena was working as well in the city council of Sabadell (barcelona) to perform microbiological quality control analysis of urban wastewater, drinking water and swimming-pools.
From 2001 to 2003 Lorena was working in the research group on industrial pollutants biodegradation and waste valorization, in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UAB (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). During this period Lorena collaborated with the group to perform the start-up of a pilot plant to treat wastewater with an anerobic digester.
From 2003 to 2006 Lorena was working in the research group on bioprocesses and applied biocatalysis. Among other activities, Lorena was doing protein purifications.
From 2004 to 2015 she was working in GENOCOV. During that period of time Lorena was collaborating with PhD Students in the following activities:
- Wastewater and waste gases biological treatment
- Analytical techniques development, chemical and biological analysis performance as FISH, anionic species with ionic chromatography, suspended solids, total inorganic and organic carbon, etc.
- Mineral mediums and chemical solutions preparation
- Control and verification of analytical instruments
Lorena participated in the implementation of the TECNIO quality certification for the BIO-GLS technological center, which integrates GENOCOV.
Nowadays, after two years in the Sostenipra Research Group, she came back to GENOCOV on February 2017
