IBERIMET is the national net of Microbial Electrochemical Technologies. The nature of METs is based on three disciplines that rarely converge at the same time into a single research group: microbiology, engineering and electrochemistry. IBERIMET arises as the natural instrument to facilitate the contact and interaction between the groups of outstanding trajectory in this new field with two clear objectives:

Accelerate the technological development of this discipline fostered synergies between the different groups
Increase the implementation of full scale MET to bring the technology to a TRL that arouses commercial interest

In addition, the network wants to enhance collaboration among the different groups in the network, which will benefit the development of knowledge through:
Better training of research staff in their predoctoral stages
The impulse to the implantation of these new technologies through the creation of multidisciplinary teams
Better use of the resources and equipment and facilities of the different groups
